The Beach Bib

The Beach Bib

Materials

Yarn: Lily’s Sugar and Cream, 1 ball (120 yds (109m), 70 grams)

Needles: US size 8 (5 mm)

Notions: 1 med sized button

Gauge: 4 sts and 5 rows per inch in stst

Instructions:

-CO 40 sts

-Work in garter stitch for 6 inches

-K3, P34, K3

-K all sts

-Repeat the last two rows twice more

-K3, P34, K3

Begin shaping on right hand side

-K3, ssk, K11, turn

-P12, K3

-K3, ssk, K7, turn

-P8, K3

-K3, ssk, K4, turn

-P5, K3

-K3, ssk, K2, turn

-P3, K3

Begin shaping on left hand side

-K31, k2tog, K3

-K3, P12, turn

-K10, k2tog, K3

-K3, P8, turn

-K6, k2tog, K3,

-K3, P5, turn

-K3, k2tog, K3

-K3, P3, turn

-K to end of the row

Neckline

-Work in garter sts (you should be beginning with a WS row) for 4 rows

-(WS) K6, BO 20 knit wise (leaving 6 live sts on the R needle), K5 (you should now have 12 live sts on you needles, 6 on each edge of the bib.)

-Straps

-Working just the right strap, work in garter sts for 6.5 inches (you may want to increase or decrease the length depending on the baby.)

-BO those 6 sts

-Break your yarn and join it again to the 6 remaining live sts still on the needle.

-Work in garter sts for 6 inches

-K2, YO, k2tog, K3

-Work in garter sts for ½ inch

-BO all sts

Finishing

-Weave in all you ends and sew you button on!
